1991. Johar Dudaev was elected President Chechnya

25 years ago, on October 27, 1991, the Soviet Army General Johar Dudaev was elected president of the self -proclaimed Chechen Republic of Ichkeria. 72% of voters took part in the elections, 90.1% voted for Dudaev. Dudaev’s opponents claimed that the election results were falsified.
