The European Union imposed sanctions against 10 close associates of Bashar al -Assad

The European Union imposed sanctions against 10 persons who have ties with the Syria government. Now the list includes 217 people. This was reported on October 27 by the press service of the EU Council. The names of persons against which new sanctions are imposed will be published on October 28.

"The Council added 10 people to the list of persons related to the Syrian regime in respect of whom the EU introduced restrictive measures for violent actions against the civilian population in Syria," the agency said.

The document emphasizes that new sanctions are introduced against "high -ranking military officials and high -ranking officials related to the regime."

EU sanctions against the Government of Syria include a ban on oil trading, restrictions on investments, freezing in the EU Assets of the Central Bank of Syria, an embargo for trading in dual-use technologies and equipment for blocking telephone and Internet communications. In addition, 70 legal entities in Syria are included in the EU blacklist.

The United States on October 3 announced the termination of negotiations with Russia on Syria. Washington accused Moscow of non -compliance with the obligations given by it as part of an agreement on a truce since September 12. The United States believes that Russia could not force Assad regime to cooperate in order to peacefully resolve the conflict. Instead, according to the American side, the Russian Federation chose a military path.
