The General Staff asked Putin to authorize airstrikes in Aleppo

The General Staff appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin with a request to resume airstrikes on militants in the eastern part of Aleppo. This was announced by the head of the main operational department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Sergei Rudskoy.

The lieutenant general explained the appeal by the fact that "the militants resumed active hostilities against government troops."

According to Rudsky, on Friday, the militants took advantage of the temporary truce and tried to break into the eastern part of Aleppo with the support of 20 tanks and 15 armored vehicles. At the same time, another part of the militants organized a counter strike. Both attacks resulted in numerous casualties among civilians and government troops.

Over the past three days, more than 40 civilians have been killed and about 100 injured as a result of shelling in the western part of Aleppo.

In addition, Rudskoy accused the US Air Force of launching an airstrike on a school in the Mosul region in northern Iraq.

On October 18, the military aviation of Russia and Syria stopped flying in a 10-kilometer zone around Aleppo.
