“This is a denunciation. There we are talking about the fact that Petrov, instead of teaching and educational activities, is engaged in public work. He watches in the “voice” and travels around where, instead of being in Irkutsk and sitting in the audience, teaching all reasonable, kind and eternal historians, ”said Ivanets.

The audit on this complaint has been going on for several months, but it became known about it only in the 20th of October. The regional prosecutor’s office attracted the labor inspectorate to check and transferred documents to the prosecutor's office of the Kirovsky district of the city, where on October 26, Petrova was already summoned for interrogation.

“The prosecutor's office tried to convince us that the entire university was being checked, and not just Petrov. But for some reason, all the documents that they require in the rector concern only Alexei Viktorovich. We were shown a complaint of the trade union. It is only about Petrov, ”the lawyer adds.

Ivanets said that at the prosecutor's office at the interrogation of Petrov, they asked to explain where he was when he was absent at work.

At the same time, the defender, the statute of limitations of the claims of the prosecutor's office seemed to have already come out. The department asked questions that concerned the events of 2013-2015, and the term of disciplinary violation under the law is 1 month.

A little earlier, the vice -rector for educational work of the university, Alexei Vokin, called Petrov to his office and offered to write a statement of his own free will.

“The head of the personnel department and the representative of the security service also attended there. They said: if you do not write a statement, we will fire you for absenteeism, ”said Ivanets, calling this“ discrimination on political beliefs ”.

Answering the question whether the incident with Alexei Petrov can be associated with the so -called “test of protest potential” in universities, Vyacheslav Ivanets said that if there is no direct connection between them, “these are the events in the same chain”. Petrov himself told Novaya Gazeta that on Friday, October 28, a meeting of the teaching staff was held at the faculty, at which 40 people signed a letter in the name of the IGU Rector Alexander Arguchintsev in support of the historian.

“In the letter, we draw attention to the fact that if a person has no disciplinary violation, dismissal is considered a sharp measure. On Monday, we are waiting for an answer. It seems to me that this is not the decision of the rector. If he wanted to fire, he would do it. I can’t say whose initiative it is, ”Petrov said in a conversation with the New Gazeta.

Candidate of political sciences Alexei Petrov is the coordinator of the regional branch of the movement for the honest elections “Voice”. According to him, in the September elections to the State Duma in Irkutsk there were no big violations that would affect the result of voting. In addition, Petrov is a co -organizer of the popular educational project “Walks in Old Irkutsk” and the president of the Club of Young Scientists “Alliance”.

In 2001, Petrov was registered by a candidate for the election of the mayor of Irkutsk, since then he has been conducting active social activities.
