The new edition of the civil defense brochure with recommendations in case of Russian invasion was published in Lithuania, the publication "15 minutes" reports . The 75-page pamphlet "What we should know about resistance: milestones of active actions" is widespread by a circulation of several tens of thousands of copies.
The authors of the brochures warn that Russia will not pretend to use force against its neighbors. “The most important thing is that citizens are on the alert and have a will to resist. When these elements are present, it is difficult to create an aggressor to create an environment for military invasion,” the brochure says.
“This publication differs from the first two, since it pays more attention to the actions of people who are potentially remaining in the occupied territory,” said the Minister of National Defense Uozas Olekas. He emphasized that the booklet was compiled on the basis of information about the experience of Russian warfare, in particular, in Ukraine.
The brochure contains practical tips on how to collect information in the occupied territories, analyze and transmit it to the military. The publication describes different types of Russian weapons, ammunition, tanks and mines. The brochure also contains first aid instructions and survival in wild conditions.
The previous memo entitled "Preparation for survival in emergency situations and war: a cheerful approach to serious recommendations" was published in December 2015. The meaning of the manual was that not a single country is protected from problems, and therefore do not panic.
In June, Lithuania President Dalya Grybauskaite signed the law on the introduction of universal military service on September 1 on an ongoing basis . According to the law, Lithuania officially moves from a completely professional army to a mixed -type army. "A mixed model, when the army consists of professionals and conscripts, creates a closer connection between society and the military. This helps to better understand the need for a willingness to defend, which is the most effective means of deterrence," the message said.
It is planned to attract from 3.5 to 4 thousand people annually to military service. By the time the law was signed, more than 3.8 thousand volunteers have already expressed a desire to serve.
Lithuania abandoned the general draft in 2008. Last year, the authorities decided for five years to again introduce a call due to the "current geopolitical situation." However, all three thousand army vacancies were filled with volunteers.
