Monsters of rock

The first monsters of rock were started in the USSR in the very beginning of the 1980s. Future professional hard-roots “Kruiz”, where the guitarist and singer Valery Gaina shone, debuted in the year of the Moscow Olympiad and became one of the main rock groups of the Union for the year. The pioneers of the Russian-speaking Hevi-Metal-August group was founded by the Kossiye keyboy Oleg Gusev in 1982, that is, only a year later than the Leningrad rock club. The kings of the Tresh and the Ugaria Metal Corrosion, which appeared in 1984, are the same age as Alice and Bravo and the first concert was given on the eve of the significant World Youth and students of 1985 (but they managed to play only four songs until they were removed from the scene).

When perestroika took off the veto from Russian rock, the groups playing hard rock and Hevi-metal began to multiply with incredible speed, because in the West this genre experienced commercial heyday. The prospects of foreign tours and a foreign career loomed before the Russian rockers, and professional musicians began to cross in the new faith, who could play anything-from songs of Soviet composers to instrumental jazz rock. Feeling the demand, the Melody gramus company began vigorously issuing records of local metallists, and they were not laid down on the shelves-for example, the debut album of the stars of the Soviet Hevi-Metal “Black Coffee” “Cross the Threshold” by the 91st year was printed and sold in a circulation of two million copies.

On August 31, 1989, the first festival of Monsters of Rock Ussr , whose headliners were Aria, Master, Black Coffee and Alice, was held at the Cherepovets stadium. The event visited 15 thousand people, which probably still remains a record for the attendance of musical shows in the 300,000th Cherepovets. Having relying on a new take-off of the popularity of heavy rock, the pioneer of the Russian show business Boris Zosimov, who later opened the Russian version of MTV , decided to systematically promote domestic metal under the brand of the “monsters of the rock of the USSR”. Having gathered a pool from famous and young groups (“Cruise”, “Master”, “Aria”, “Black Coffee”, “Marquis” and “Joker”), Zosimov held the festivals of the same name in Moscow and Leningrad. His Napoleonic plans had a massive expansion of Russian metal to the western market, but did not happen. The only triumph of the “Monsters of Rock” was a miracle, which was miraculously held immediately after the August Putch of the 91st grand festival in Tushin, which was AC/DC , Metallica , Pantera , Black Crowes and the only Russians-“ES”. This megagance went down in the history of rock music with a 700-thousand crowd (according to other estimates, almost 1.5 million spectators gathered on the field) and its skirmishes with the police .

By and large, the turbulent explosion of the Russian heavy rock that happened in the late 1980s had a small exhaust: the Tushino “monsters of the rock”, the fleeting success of the Gorky Park in the American chart, stainless over the years, the Aria group and the lane records of Soviet metallists, which are still found on the flea and vinyl hoggers. After listening to the box of such records, by the day of all saints, I collected a wild playlist from beautiful and terrible samples of Russian heavy rock from 1986 to 1993.
