The head of the Theater of Nations, actor and director Yevgeny Mironov supported Konstantin Raikin, who spoke out against censorship, which is carried out with the help of public organizations and "offended people." Mironov's appeal is published on the theatre's website.

Mironov admitted that he agrees with Raikin and shares his concern, but he is more concerned with the question "what should we do."

And we know that there were moments in history when reliance on the majority led not to positive, but to deplorable results. How can we, professionals, fight and defend the interests of our comrades in such situations?” Mironov asks.

The director writes that "the more [letters] you sign, the less their value and influence becomes." At the same time, he admits that “threats constantly arise in relation to artists, to their performances, exhibitions, books, films - threats from individuals or some dubious organizations that arrogate to themselves the right to judge art, self-appointedly. take on the mission of defenders of alleged morality and traditions.

According to Mironov, the only way out is to unite in a professional community, an informal body, and its own for each type of art. Such a community should include "people with an impeccable reputation, who have proven their competence throughout their lives, who have assumed responsibility to the state for large creative teams."

“Those ridiculous boundaries that they are trying to put on us can only lead to one thing - to degradation. We must help both society and, if you like, the authorities, which also do not always understand who can be trusted and who cannot, who is a professional and who is not. And we, as professionals, must ourselves develop an opinion on cases that may seem controversial to someone - due to the lack of education of these people, their excessive excitability, painful resentment, or some other subjective factors, ”concludes Mironov.
