The students of Moscow State University found a mental disorder who tried to escape to ISIS

A student of Moscow State University Alexandra Ivanova (Varvara Karaulova), who is accused of trying to join the Islamic State terrorist group, found a schizotypic personality disorder. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the Moscow District Military Court, which is being considered the case.

The court announced the documents according to which such a diagnosis was made in June 2015, the agency’s interlocutor said.

Earlier, that the defendant suffers from any mental illness was not reported. The protection of Karaulova about a year ago stated that after returning from Turkey, she was examined at the Research Institute of Mental Health, where she was prescribed antidepressants and an antipsychotic drug.

Earlier, the examination recognized Karaulov as a sane and able to bear criminal liability for the crime.

Varvara Karaulova was charged under Part 1 of Article 30, part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (preparation for participation in the activities of a terrorist organization). During interrogation, she pleaded guilty.

On October 28, the court authorized the arrest of Karaulova, since then she has been in jail. On October 5, 2016, the Moscow District Military Court began to consider on the merits a criminal case against a student.
