5,000 rubles: this is the amount the court assessed the suffering of prisoners of Krasnokamensk IK-10, whom the guards beat with a stun gun and batons

The court ordered former employees of Krasnokamensk IK-10 to pay five thousand rubles in compensation to the prisoners whom they tortured.

Former employees of the Krasnokamensk correctional colony No. 10 Roman Ushakov, Alexey Malkin and Andrey Litvintsev will pay five thousand rubles each as compensation for moral damage to the prisoners whom they tortured, follows from the verdict of the Krasnokamensk City Court handed down on October 31 against eight employees. Another former employee of the institution, Alexander Zinchenko, will pay 15 thousand rubles - five thousand each to three victims.

They and four other defendants were given suspended sentences for torturing prisoners.

The recipients of compensation were the victims Dmitry Korsakov (5 thousand rubles), Roman Fedorov (10 thousand rubles) and Evgeny Babuev (15 thousand rubles). Thus, the court partially satisfied the civil claims of the prisoners, who demanded compensation of up to one and a half million rubles.

The court found it proven that the said colony officers beat the prisoners with their feet and rubber truncheons. In addition, Zinchenko beat Babuev, who was stripped naked, on the head, arms and legs with a belt buckle. Prisoner Fedorov said that Zinchenko not only kicked him and beat him with a rubber baton, but also hit him twice with a stun gun.

The court sentenced eight former employees of IK-10 to suspended sentences. The accused Zinchenko was sentenced to 4.5 years probation, the remaining defendants - Alexey Malkin, Roman Ushakov, Andrey Litvintsev, Vitaly Garkusha, Ruslan Konkulov, Alexander Karpenko and Igor Kozulin - were sentenced to four years probation.

Eight employees were convicted of torture following a riot at the facility. On the night of April 17, 2011, prisoners at IK-10 rioted, during which a fire broke out. So they tried to draw attention to torture in the institution, but after the riot the prisoners were beaten again, including with special means.
