The Commissioner for Human Rights in the Perm Territory, Tatyana Margolina, supported the right of LGBT activists to hold rallies, writes . Euro-Asiatic News
“They, like any citizens of the Russian Federation, have the right to hold public events peacefully. This is the constitutional right of everyone. Why should these events be banned? - she said.
True, she still supports the decision not to approve specific applications filed by LGBT activists in Perm.
“Given that the organizers of this event are not from Perm, they name venues that are either associated with increased danger or raise questions of political tension. At the monument to Lenin on this day there are always events of people with communist views, and the street they offer for the procession is very busy with traffic. Therefore, I recommended the City Council to negotiate with the organizers regarding the change of venues,” explained Tatyana Margolina.
She noted that she would try once again to discuss this topic with the chairman of the Duma, Yuri Utkin. The authorities of Perm did not agree on holding actions of the LGBT community, the purpose of which was to draw attention to the problems of discrimination against homosexuals, homophobia and transphobia. They explained their decision by the desire to protect children from unwanted information.
