Amnesty International office in Moscow sealed

The office of the international human rights organization Amnesty International in Moscow has been sealed. This was announced on November 2 in his Twitter by the head of the Russian branch of the organization Sergey Nikitin.

Amnesty International employee Ivan Kondratenko wrote on his Facebook page that an attempt to find out something in the Moscow City Property Department has not yet yielded results:

“This morning we discovered that the Amnesty office in Moscow was sealed, the locks were broken (and new ones were inserted), it was written that you need to contact the Moscow City Property Department with a letter to withdraw things. All our computers, papers, personal belongings - everything was left there, behind closed doors. Apparently, they came early in the morning - the batteries for the computers had just stopped beeping, the electricity was out. There was no letter, notice, not even a call, nothing. Amnesty has rented an office here for over twenty years.

For the first hours we tried to find out what happened, called the phone number written on a piece of paper on the door, but there was silence on the other end of the wire. They called the Department of City Property of Moscow, but they still don't know anything there either. We paid our bills neatly for twenty years - this was the first and so far the only Amnesty office in Russia.”
