Fradkov will become the chairman of the board of directors of the concern "Almaz-Antei"

The former head of the foreign intelligence service Mikhail Fradkov will take the post of chairman of the board of directors of the Almaz-Antey concern and will head the Russian Institute for Strategic Research. This decision was made at a meeting of President Vladimir Putin with Fradkov and the head of the Rostec State Corporation Sergei Chemezov, according to the Kremlin website.

Earlier, Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that the ex-head of the SVR will become the chairman of the board of directors of Russian Railways.

“We agreed that you would lead the Supervisory Board of Russian Railways, but Sergey Viktorovich [Chemezov] asked you and came to me to use you at Almaz-Antee,” said Putin Fradkov.

The President explained that Almaz-Antey is included in the defense complex, where Fradkov’s experience “not only as the chairman of the government, but also as a foreign intelligence head would be by the way.”

Chemezov, in turn, added that the previous work will help the new chairman of the board of directors to participate in the closed developments of the concern.

Fradkov considered the “interesting”, and also agreed to head the Russian Institute for Strategic Research.

In October, sources in the management of Russian Railways and in the Russian Export Center were informed Vedomosti that the appointment of Fradkov to the post of head of the board of directors of the railway company “most likely does not happen”. The reason for the interlocutors called the fears of leadership, caused by the fact that Fradkov is in the sanction list of the European Union.

The newspaper wrote that if it was appointed, the holders of the Eurobonds of the company will require early repayment of papers, but "Russian Railways does not have money, it will be default."
