President Vladimir Putin provided Russian citizenship to actor Steven Sigal. This is stated in the decree published on the Kremlin website.

"To accept Sigal Sigal Stephen Frederick, born on April 10, 1952 in the United States of America," the decree said.

Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov explained that the president provided Russian citizenship, as he persistently sought and nourishes warm feelings for our country.

According to Peskov, Sigal "is really known for his rather warm feelings in relation to our country, he never hid it." “At the same time, he is a fairly famous actor, which gave the grounds for admitting him to the citizenship of the Russian Federation,” Peskov added.

Recently, the actor visited Russia several times. In September, he visited Kamchatka and Sakhalin. Then he spoke about his sympathy for Russia and did not rule out the receipt of Russian citizenship soon, noting that he would like to spend several months a year here.

In March 2014, Sigal supported the annexation of Crimea, promising to sing a verse of the anthem of the Donetsk People’s Republic at the bike show.

In October 2013, the actor took part in the celebration of the City of Grozny , which coincides with the birthday of the head of the region Ramzan Kadyrov.
