Foreign Minister FRG Frank-Walter Steinmeier summoned to the conversation of the attorney in Turkey's affairs. The German authorities are alarmed by a new wave of political persecution, from which the leaders of the Kurdish opposition parties suffered, DW reports.
On the night of November 4, during anti -terrorist events in Turkey, Kurdish politicians and deputies were captured in Turkey, including both heads of the Democratic Party of Peoples (DPN), which defends the right of national minorities. We are talking about politicians of Selahattina Demirtash and Figen Yuksekdag. They are accused of promoting terrorism.
One of the two co -chairs of the Selahattin Demirtash party was detained in his house in the city of Diyarbakyr. He managed to send a message on Twitter: "Police at the door of my house in Diyarbakyr with an arrest order."
DPN is the largest political party representing the interests of the Kurds. In the parliament of Turkey, it is represented by 59 deputies.
It became possible to hold the latest detentions of parliamentary deputies after Turkey President Tayyip Erdogan ratified the law with 150 parliamentarians in early June.
In total on Friday, at least 12 deputies of the Prokurdi Party were taken to the police. All of them may be charged with supporting the Kurdistan Workers' Party banned in Turkey, reports Euronews .
On Friday, Reuters news agency, citing a representative of the DPN, reported that the court has already authorized the arrest of the parliamentarian Idris Balulecen, who was among the detainees.
We also note that in the morning in Diyarbakyr, where Kurdish politicians were detained, a powerful explosion thundered . The bomb worked next to the police station, to which the detained oppositionists were delivered. It was reported about one deceased and 30 wounded. Later, the number of wounded increased to 40.
The German government sharply condemned the latest actions of the Turkish authorities, regarding them as an attempt to "plug the opposition company." The point of view of Berlin was brought to the attention of the Turkish attorney. "Spended last night of the detention of politicians and deputies of the Kurdish Party of DPN, from the point of view of the minister, indicate a further sharp deterioration in the situation," the FERG Foreign Ministry said on Friday.
The German authorities believe that the fight against terrorism should not be used as a reason for reprisal against the opposition. “No one disputes Turkey’s right to fight against the threat of terrorism and use all legal methods to eliminate the consequences of a bloody council of the coup. This, however, should not serve as an excuse to plug the mouth of a political opposition or even throw it into the bars,” the document emphasizes.
The FRG Foreign Ministry also notes that Germany, given the “historically deep relationship” with Turkey, cannot be silent and hide its attitude to what is happening in this country.
We add that in 2015 the Ankara prosecutor’s office began an investigation against Selahattin Demirtash after his statements about the independence of the Kurdish regions in Turkey.
