This past week, the public was shocked by a letter that Ildar Dadin handed over from the colony to freedom : a convict on charges of “repeated violations of the rules for holding public events” said that he was subjected to severe torture in the colony - he was beaten, hung up by handcuffs, dunked with his head in the toilet, and threatened kill. The complaint about torture was sent to the European Court of Human Rights, which assigned the complaint priority status . Human rights activists, journalists (almost none of themwere allowed into the village where the colony is located), civil activists (eight peoplewere detained for single pickets near the colony, and journalist Anastasia Andreeva was left in the police department overnight ) went to the colony to visit Dadin. At the same time, what measures have been taken against Dadin in connection with what he reported in the letter, and even where he is now, is not known for certain.
Maxim Kalinichenko, who was imprisoned in one of the Karelian colonies, told OVD-Info that torture there is a common practice and that Dadin “even downplayed” it in his story.
This year, various cities disapproved of the “Russian March” on November 4. In Kaliningrad and Volgograd, it was not approved according to the usual route (in addition, one of the organizers of the Volgograd event was unexpectedly called to the police , and while he was there, unknown people entered his apartment. In Moscow, the march was not approved for a long time , finally agreed , but in fact More than seven people were detained at the “Russian March” in Moscow - some for a medical mask, some for the Ukrainian flag. One of them was arrested for seven days for a tattoo on the back of his head.

But the Kupala Nights festival in Perm was approved, but its participants were fined for patterns on souvenirs that resembled a swastika. To do this, the local Center for Counteracting Extremism conducted an entire special operation: 18 employees entered the festival, conducted covert filming for three days, after which experts spent a long time analyzing the materials.
For “violations at rallies,” as we see from the story of Ildar Dadin, they can even be punished by opening a criminal case. In the meantime, until the case is opened, you can come up with a lot more. Vologda opposition politician Evgeny Domozhirov received 40 hours of compulsory labor for his protest against development. A Cossack ataman lost his position because of his participation in the “tractor march” of Kuban farmers. Protocols were drawn up against the defenders of Sunsky Bor in the Karelian region for illegal logging of firewood. And in Orel, a resident of Yaroslavl, who put a bag on the monument to Ivan the Terrible, was detained and fined under the article of petty hooliganism.
The Supreme Court of North Ossetia spent several days considering complaints from several women detained on September 1 at a memorial service for those killed in Beslan for displaying T-shirts with accusations against Putin.
