Zoltan Kochish died

On November 6, a Hungarian pianist and conductor Zoltan Kochish died in Budapest at the age of 64.

This was reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra, which Zultan Kochish led almost 20 years.

Zoltan Kochish was born in 1952 in Budapest, in 1971 he graduated from the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music, and taught in it since 1973.

In 1970, Zoltan Kochish won the Beethoven pianists competition. He toured in Europe, the USA, the USSR, Japan, Australia, Latin America, performed in chamber ensembles, including Svyatoslav Richter.

He participated in music festivals, including in Salzburg, Edinburgh, Paris, Lucerne and Prague, performed with leading orchestras and conductors. The pianist’s repertoire covered music from Bach to modern Hungarian composers, in 2005 Zoltan Kochish completed the record of a complete collection of works for piano Beli Bartok.

In 1983, together with Ivan Fisher, Zoltan Kochish founded the Budapest festival orchestra and was one of its leaders for 14 years, in 1997 he headed the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra.
