The obvious fact that we live in the world of post-apocalypse proves only that by some absurd accident, this very world was never destroyed. Today, Samizdat, together with the Dodo book shops, intends to get closer to eliminating this annoying misunderstanding and finding an inventor among our readers who can come up with a way of destroying the world, which is not inferior in its sophistication and elegance in the inventions of the scientist de Selby from the novels of Flann O'Brien. Write in the commentary or by mail [Email Protected] (if you are a secret genius) and tell the concept and principle of operation of your apparatus to destroy the world: we will publish the best authors, and the winner will receive the book of the Flanne O'Briena Dolkiy from the series “Hidden gold of the twentieth century” . We will give preferences to those authors who will be able to build an apparatus working on philosophical infusions, or offer a truly environmentally friendly way to destroy the world.
The Irish journalist and writer Flanne O'Brien, whom James Joyce extolled behind his “real spirit of the funny”, composed an absurd macabar trip to hell on a bicycle - the novel “Third Police”. In it, the inventor and thinker de Selby, magnificent and crazy, was revealed to the world. The author wrote a novel for ten years, after which the manuscript was sent to the Longmans publishing house, but it was rejected. At the suggestion of William Saroyan O'Brien, he tried to publish a book in the United States (called "Hell Carousel"), but not a single American publishing house became interested in it. The world was not ready for the undisguised greatness of de Selby. Unable to admit friends that the novel was rejected everywhere, O'Brien said that he had lost the only instance of the manuscript and could not restore it. The book was published only in 1967, a year after the death of O'Brien, and brought the writer World Glory.
His other romance, the “Archive of Dolki”, is dedicated to de Selby completely and completely. De Selby's ideas break any scrapers on which there are ideas about reality by which you can control society. In any way, it is impossible to explain the fact that this work has never previously been translated into Russian. However, the underground revolution of the literary rock and roll does his job quietly, but diligently: very soon the “Archive of Dolki” will be published in the series “Hidden Gold of the XX Century” in the translation of Shashi Martynova. Right now, the project collects funds on Planet.ru, where you can help the underground revolution, becoming a co -player of the book.
For example, he claims that travel and in general any movements from place to place are only hallucinations. Emphasized by the idea of the illusoryness of any movement, he, in order to go from Bat to Fourocstone, locked himself in a room filled with numerous mysterious instruments and hours, and looked all day at postcards with the views of fouocstone - and remained in full confidence that he had visited there. Rumor, by the way, that at the same time he was seen leaving the bank in Fourocstone.
De Selby defines the human existence as a sequence of static states, each of which lasts a vanishingly small moment. De Selby denies the possibility of any real movement in time and space, and that which is usually called the “flow of time” does not recognize at all. In his opinion, the illusion of movement arises due to the inability of the human brain (“at the current stage of its development”, quoting de Selby) correctly perceive and evaluate discrete reality. However, almost any photograph, according to De Selby, is a completely complete confirmation of his theory.
Being not just a thinker, but a thinker, an active, pioneer and experimenter by his nature, De Selby has always tried to use his constructions in order to overcome this discrete reality. In the process, many unique inventions were born. Among the most prominent are the time machine based on a kind of understanding of the theory of relativity. In a nutshell: the machine must pump out all the oxygen from the air. The atmosphere devoid of oxygen, according to the idea of De Selby, will expose the apparent connectivity of the time and encounter civilization with his true nature. All things and creatures that have ever existed and future will arise at the same time. I must say that with the help of this invention, De Selby was able to grow his whiskey.
“Then de Selby took the drink inside, which can be described as a large -willed one, and suddenly a meek face acquired an expression of apocalyptic solemnity.
“Gentlemen,” he said in an in absent tone, “I took possession of time.” Time is called an event, a container, a continuum, an ingredient in the universe. I am able to eliminate time, to negate its visible move.
In hindsight, Miku seemed funny that Heskett looked at his watch at that moment, perhaps involuntarily.
“I still have time,” he croaked.
“The course of time,” De Selby continued, “is calculated regarding the movements of celestial bodies. They are as decisive nature determinants. Many of the appearance of sane men - Newton, Spinoza, Bergson, even Descartes studied and made time about him. Beliberda of the relativity of Einstein is dishonest and certainly fake. He tried to say that time and space do not have true existence separately and can be comprehended only in conjunction. Classes, similar astronomy and geodesy, humanity simply confuse. Do you understand?
Since he looked at Mika, he shook his head confidently, but decided that it was worth it to sip whiskey again well. Hamkett frowned. De Selby sat down to the table.
“The consideration of the time,” he said, “in the criteria of intellectual, philosophical or even mathematical there is meaninglessness and activity for wahlas.” In such unworthy straightforces, some kind of whip from the clergy, turning to concepts like infinity or eternity, inevitably causes a kind of cerebral catalepsy among the public. ”
