The head of the Pentagon warned the US President against cooperation with Russia on Syria

Pentagon chief Ashton Carter did not recommend the US president to cooperate with Russia on Syria. this He stated in an interview with CBS.

Carter explained that the Russian authorities, by their support of the regime of Bashar al-Assad, are only "stirring up the fire of the Syrian war."

“I do not recommend to the president that we associate ourselves with this and work with the Russians until they start doing the right thing,” Carter said.

Carter points out that Russia has been aggressive towards Ukraine and Georgia, so Washington must be firm on the Kremlin to "counter possible Russian aggression in Europe."

He pointed out that the Russian authorities had previously said they intended to fight terrorism and use their "historic influence on the Syrian regime" to end the civil war in the country, but now "they are not doing that."
