In Belgorod, they did not agree on a rally in support of blogger Sergei Lezhnev, against whom the Belgorod State Technological University filed a lawsuit in connection with his publications about corruption at the university.
According to the Internet edition Go31.Ru, the participants of the action wanted to come out with posters to the entrance to the BSTU. However, city officials said the picket would interfere with pedestrian traffic on the sidewalk.
Lezhnev's supporters planned to hold a picket on November 15, but are currently negotiating with the mayor's office about the possibility of holding it on November 17 or 18.
The action is planned to be held in support of not only Lezhnev, but also BSTU students who testified in his favor and were brought as co-respondents, the newspaper reports.
Earlier it became known that in Belgorod they did not agree on an event against the Platon system, which requires drivers of heavy trucks to pay for the use of federal highways. The action was scheduled for November 12th. According to Igor Tsevmenko, the organizer of the event, Go.31.Ru reports that pickets were planned near the Rusich cinema center, on the observation deck near the New Bridge, as well as on the northern rotunda. “Initially, the authorities asked to reduce the number of participants (it was planned to be 15–20 people), then they reported that the action on the New Bridge would become an obstacle for pedestrians, and also because of it there would be a threat to road safety,” Tsevmenko said. The latest refusal was due to "adverse weather conditions".
On November 11, in various cities of Russia, the authorities prevented the holding of actions on the occasion of the anniversary of the unrest over the introduction of the Platon system. Mass detentions took place in Khimki near Moscow, which for thirteen people ended at night in the police department (or two) and fined .
