1941 Battle at the Dubosekovo crossing

75 years ago, on November 16, 1941, there was a battle at the Dubosekovo junction near Moscow, on the basis of which later Soviet journalists and political workers created a myth about 28 Panfilov heroes, who allegedly destroyed 18 German tanks in this battle.

In fact, as it was established after the war on the basis of archival documents and a survey of surviving combatants, on that day, the 1075th rifle regiment of the 316th rifle division of General Panfilov was almost completely destroyed at Dubosekov, and the 4th company of this regiment, from the which 28 heroes were named, out of 140 people lost more than 100 killed and missing. There were no more than six German tanks knocked out by the entire regiment.
