Open Russia coordinator in Chuvashia fined for a picture with Milonov

The coordinator of the Open Russia movement in Chuvashia, Dmitry Semenov, was fined 1,000 rubles under Art. 20.29 Code of Administrative Offenses (production and distribution of extremist materials). This was reported on November 16 on the Open Russia website.

The reason for the persecution of the politician was the repost of a photograph depicting current State Duma deputy Vitaly Milonov in a T-shirt with the inscription “Orthodoxy or Death,” made by Semenov in 2014 on the Vkontakte social network.

A little later today, another case against Semenov for reposting a picture with Milonov should be considered. In this picture, Milonov is not wearing an extremist T-shirt, but the slogan “Orthodoxy or death” is in the commentary to the photo.

On September 17, 2015, the Leninsky District Court of Cheboksary sentenced Dmitry Semenov to a fine of 150 thousand rubles under the first part of Article 280 of the Criminal Code, finding him guilty of public calls for extremist activities due to the repost of an interview that included a caricature of Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev . After the verdict was pronounced, the court amnestied Semenov, releasing him from a fine and expunging his criminal record.
