The Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia doubted the opening of the largest oil field in the United States

The Minister of Natural Resources, Sergei Donskoy, called the “cunning” reports on the discovery of the largest shale oil deposits in the United States. Donskoy’s comment is posted on his Facebook page.

According to him, the US Geological Service “generously evaluates the resources of the regions on an unfilled“ prolonged ”oil thanks to a new methodology. Donskov asked the All-Russian Oil Scientific Research Institute for Prepare his own conclusion.

On the night of November 17, the US Geological Service announced the opening of the largest shaleworm oil field Wolfcamp in the country. It was found in the western part of Texas. According to estimates, reserves in the field are 20 billion barrels of oil and 453 billion cubic meters of natural gas.

The new deposit is almost three times the open in 2013 of the Oil-shaped area of ​​Backken-three Forx. Such a discovery became possible thanks to the technology of horizontal drilling, specified in the geological service.

In July, the consulting company Rystad Energy said that the amount of oil reserves in the United States overtook the indicators of Russia and Saudi Arabia. According to analysts, US oil reserves amount to 264 billion barrels, in Russia there are 256 billion barrels, and 212 billion barrels in Saudi Arabia.
