The court arrested the former vice-governor of St. Petersburg Oganesyan, accused of fraud in the construction of the Zenit Arena

In St. Petersburg, the Smolninsky District Court arrested the former vice-governor of the city, Marat Oganesyan, until January 15, 2017, reports . RIA Novosti

At the same time, the judge, at the request of the investigator, closed the hearing to journalists. During the selection of a preventive measure, an ambulance was called for Oganesyan.

Marat Oganesyan is accused under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code (fraud). According to investigators, in 2014 Oganesyan transferred more than 50 million rubles to the TDM company for the supply of a video board for the Zenit Arena stadium. Subsequently, these funds were stolen through shell companies, and the video board was never installed. It was the vice-governor who oversaw the construction of the stadium, the Investigative Committee notes.

The former vice-governor was detained in Moscow on November 16 and then transferred to St. Petersburg. Interfax reported that Oganesyan was hospitalized from the pre-trial detention center. “Oganesyan is under guard in one of the city hospitals, his arrest is planned tomorrow,” the press service of the Investigative Committee reported. The reasons for hospitalization were not given.
