Rostelecom conducted a virtual network for the Siberian transport police

The Novosibirsk branch of Rostelecom united 93 transport police units in seven regions of Siberia into a single virtual private local area network (VPLS). Law enforcement officers received a secure network with remote access to information systems.

Transport police officers now have access to search engines, unified databases and other resources necessary for effective work to ensure law and order at railway, water and air transport facilities. Rostelecom received the right to provide telecommunications services at a tender in September 2016, the company's press service reported.

Until recently, departmental local networks united the linear departments of each individual subject of the federation: the Kemerovo region, the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the Altai Republic. Now, under the terms of the state contract, VPLS is built on the principle of full connectivity "each to each", that is, between any pair of devices throughout the Siberian region.

“Reliability, security and stability of communication channels when exchanging information are priorities in the activities of law enforcement agencies,” Yury Kupriyanov, director of the Novosibirsk branch of Rostelecom, commented on the new network. - Employees of the linear police departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs UT provide law enforcement, as well as anti-terrorist and economic security of the entire transport complex of the Siberian Federal District. To solve these complex problems, a modern telecommunications infrastructure is needed, which will allow the transport police of the region to automate many processes, improve professional activities, which, ultimately, will reduce the crime rate.”
