Apple has acknowledged a problem with the iPhone 6 Plus touchscreen, but said consumers will have to pay for the $149 repair, the company said on its website.

Users of the Phone 6 Plus and iPhone 6 have long complained about the so-called "touch disease." The fact is that the touch screen does not always respond to touch, and a flashing black or gray strip may appear at the top of the screen. The device does not have additional protection for the motherboard from mechanical damage, including unnoticeable bends - for example, when the user sits on a chair with a smartphone in his pocket, writes the publication AppleInsider. Previously, Apple used a special metal screen, but neither the iPhone 6 nor the iPhone 6 Plus had it.

Now the company is offering a 50% discount on iPhone 6 Plus repairs. Screen replacement for users whose smartphone warranty has expired will cost $149. In addition, the company is ready to reimburse the difference if the repair has already been done, but the receipt has been saved. The special repair program starts on December 2 of this year. The offer is valid for five years from the date of purchase of the device.

The company's statement claims that the cause is repeated drops of the smartphone on a hard surface, which is why Apple refuses to repair the iPhone 6 Plus for free and charges a fixed fee for fixing such problems.
