Moscow is trying to influence the political situation in a number of European countries and undermines European unity. This was stated by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko at a celebration on the occasion of the third anniversary of the beginning of Euromaidan, the press service of the head of state reports .
"The Russian authoritarian regime, which" soaked in the toilet "of democracy in his own country, willingly use its instruments to achieve its own goals outside Russia. And, I emphasize, not only in Ukraine, but throughout Europe," Poroshenko said.
The President said that the revolution of dignity lifted the line under the Russian-Soviet past and under the post-Soviet period of the development of the Ukrainian state. “She established a clear demarcation line in space and in time. She expressively designated the border that separates and moves away our Ukrainian, European world from their“ Russian world, ”Poroshenko said.
Poroshenko recalled that last week the UN project was supported by Ukraine, which was initiated by Ukraine on the situation in the Crimea annexed by Russia. "For the first time in the official documents of the UN Russia, the Russian state is called by who it is actually - the Crimea and Sevastopol - temporarily occupied territories," the Ukrainian president noted. “And even earlier, PACE adopted a document in which the situation in the east is characterized as Russian aggression against the sovereign state.”
Meanwhile, the chairman of the Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, the former acting The president of the country, Alexander Turchinov, in his appeal, called Euromaidan an answer to an attempt to turn Ukraine "not only de facto, but also de jure into one of the colonies of cruel, dirty and sloppy Russia."
On November 15, the UN General Assembly Committee on Social and Humanitarian issues (Third Committee) adopteda resolution on human rights in Crimea . Representatives of 73 countries voted for the document with 76 abstained and 23 votes against. In the preamble, the resolution is “temporary occupation by the Russian Federation of part of the territory of Ukraine, the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol” and confirms the “non -recognition of its annexation”.
The resolution proposed to condemn "infringement of human rights, discriminatory measures and practice against residents of temporarily occupied Crimea, including Crimean Tatars, as well as Ukrainians and persons belonging to other ethnic and religious groups, from the Russian occupation authorities."
On October 12, PACE 78 votes for 11 against and 13 abstained adopted the resolution "The political consequences of Russian aggression in Ukraine." Her project was entitled "The political consequences of the crisis in Ukraine", however, during the discussion the name was changed. The Assembly called on Russia "to withdraw your troops from the territory of Ukraine and stop the military supply of separatists."
On the same day, PACE adopted another resolution - about a violation of human rights in the regions of Donbass and the Azov, occupied by pro -Russian separatists. The document announced the legal liability of Russia for the actions of the militants. As stated in the document, the DPR and LPR "are created, supported and actually controlled by the Russian Federation." Thus, PACE assigned the same responsibility for Russia for events in the Donbass as the events in the Crimea.
"According to international law, the Russian Federation, which de facto exercises control over these territories, is responsible for the protection of their population," was emphasized in the resolution. - Thus, Russia should guarantee compliance with human rights to all residents of Crimea and the DPR and LPR.
