Russia "will pull as long as possible" with the abolition of a grocery embargo, introduced in response to Western sanctions. This was stated by President Vladimir Putin at the forum of the "All -Russian Popular Front" in Moscow, Interfax reports .

During the forum, an agricultural entrepreneur addressed the president. He asked "in no case do not cancel" the prodmbargo. “I’ll tell you secretly. We will pull it as long as possible,” Putin answered.

"We really did it consciously and, in fact, took advantage of the, frankly, short -sighted decisions that were made in relation to our country by our so -called partners who introduced these sanctions," Putin said. Thus, the president is sure, Russia has created the conditions for the production of agricultural products within the country.

At the same time, the president emphasized that the consumer must receive quality goods. “Of course, all manufacturers within the country are interested in this situation to last as long as possible,” Putin noted. “But now I will say completely unexpected, maybe a criminal thing, a thing: the consumer is interested in receiving good quality goods at the lowest price and therefore we need to create competitive conditions.”

At the same time, the president admitted that Russian counter -sanctions led to an increase in prices. "Unfortunately, they led in a short -term version to a certain increase in food prices," Putin said.

The embargo for the supply of products from countries that adopted sanctions against Russia was introduced on August 7, 2014. On June 24 last year, Putin signed a decree on the extension of the food embargo for a year.

On May 27, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev instructed to prepare documents to extend the food embargo until the end of 2017 . "Our manufacturers have repeatedly advocated the preservation of the food embargo on agrarian goods and agricultural goods from countries that imposed sanctions against the Russian Federation or later joined them. I want to say that I instructed to prepare proposals for the extension of the response for a year, but by the end of 2017," Medvedev said at a meeting with members of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.

On June 29, Putin signed a decree on the extension of the grocery embargo until the end of 2017 .
