The materials of the “Kirovles case” were received by the court in Kirov

On November 18, the materials of the Kirovles Case concerning Alexei Navalny and Pyotr Ofitserov were submitted to the Leninsky District Court of Kirov for a new trial. This was reported on November 22 by the Interfax agency, citing Navalny's lawyer Olga Mikhailova.

On November 16, the Presidium of the Supreme Court overturned the verdict in the case and sent it back for a new trial. The basis for the review of the case was the decision of the European Court of Human Rights, which recognized the violation of the right of Navalny and Ofitserov to a fair trial and awarded them compensation.

The decision in the “Kirovles case” was made on July 18, 2013: the Leninsky district district of Kirov sentenced Navalny and Ofitserov, respectively, to five and four years in prison. On October 16, as a result of an appeal, both sentences were replaced with suspended sentences.
