1896. Clement Gotvald was born

120 years ago, on November 23, 1896, the leader of the Communists of the Czechoslovakia, Clement Gotvald, Prime Minister of the country in 1946-1948, was born. and president in 1948-1953. During his reign, after a communist coup occurred in February 1948, mass repressions were deployed in Czechoslovakia - 233 people were executed (including 11 heads of the Communist Party - under the anti -Semitic process of Rudolf Slansky), thousands were sent to prisons and camps. Gotvald died in March 1953, after he caught a cold at Stalin's funeral.
