The European Parliament adopted a resolution on the fight against the propaganda of Russia and Islamists

The European Parliament adopted a resolution on countering the propaganda of Russia and jihadist groups, in particular the Islamic State and Al-Qaeda. This was reported on the website of the BI. The resolution proposed by the deputy Anna Fotyga, the ex-head of the Poland Foreign Ministry, supported 304 parliamentarians. 179 voted against, 208 abstained.

Enemy propaganda, the document says, sets his task to distort the truth, to sow doubts, to make a split into the relations of the European Union with its North American partners, to paralyze the decision -making process, to discredit the EU institutions and sow fear and uncertainty in its citizens.

Regarding Russia in the resolution, it is noted that after the annexation of Crimea and the unleashing of a hybrid war in the east of Ukraine, it significantly strengthened anti -European propaganda. "The Russian government uses a wide set of tools such as research groups ... Multivated television channels (for example, RT), pseudo-mono-carrier agencies and multimedia services (for example, Sputnik) ... social networks and Internet trolls to question democratic values, divide internal support and create the impression that the easternous neighbors of the EU are the failed neighbors of the EU. States, ”the European Parliamentarians note.

The resolution also emphasizes that "the Kremlin finances political parties and other organizations within the EU." The document condemns "pro -Russian and anti -European forces", in particular, far -right parties and populist associations.

To counteract campaigns aimed against the EU, it is proposed to allocate funds for the development of the media that would increase the knowledge of citizens and accustom them to critically evaluate the information. The importance of the development of mass media in national languages ​​of different countries is noted.

In addition, the European Parliamentarians in the adopted document are expressed to deepen the EU and NATO cooperation in strategic communications.
