Ryanair announced the introduction of free air tickets

The largest budgetary airline Ryanair today announced the creation of free tickets for its passengers. According to the Irish low -cost airline, the idea with the possibility of free flights at the expense of airports should be realized in the next 10 years. In other words: passengers will fly at the expense of the money that they leave in souvenir stores, Duty Free and restaurants, and the airport cafe.

At the same time, when the passenger, the passenger will still have to pay an additional fee for the transportation of baggage and power on board the aircraft, the Ryanair press service Novaya Gazeta refused to answer.

-Firstly, in addition to direct tariff income, any airline has additional income that are associated with baggage, meals and everything else. No one canceled these income. In Ryanair, they account for about 30 %. This is practically divided into 1 to 2 with tariff income. If Ryanair will introduce a practice with free tickets, no one prevents them from receiving 10 or 15 euros of additional income from each passenger. This does not mean that they are still paying for luggage on top. It will not be possible to count on this.

Secondly, Ryanair with a number of airports has an agreement on minimal passenger transport. This happens like this: Ryanair comes to contact with the airport, signs the agreement: “In two years, we will take half a million passengers in your year, and we undertake to make discounts for large tariffs.” Accordingly, if the company does not transport this number of people, then it falls under penalties. Therefore, there is an opportunity to stimulate passenger traffic at the airports with which such an agreement is signed.

The main reason is that for most airlines, tariff revenue is now no longer critical. Yes, this is a huge part of the income, but not a component. After 10 years, tariff revenue can be less than additional income. No one will refuse to sell some part of tickets for conditional zero.

For airline, the number of passengers on board is not an indicator. The indicator is a profit. Ryanair believes that the number of passengers on board allows you to somehow improve the flight economy, and it really partially occurs, because the passenger pays additional services. And as you know, there are variable costs and there are constant ones. Revenue from the passenger exceeds the constant costs. And there is a reason to sell these tickets lower than their constant cost. Because, in any case, they would not have bought them differently, and so constant costs are covered.
