The European Commission on Thursday has undergone a massive DDOS attack. It is reported by Politico with reference to the official representative of the EC.

The attack began about 15 hours. Officials were faced with the inability to enter the network due to the overload of the Internet channels. EC servers received millions of requests. According to one of the employees, the connection fell twice, both times - for several hours. The work of the European Commission was paralyzed.

Later, the IT service repelled the attack without disconnecting the Internet. The connection speed, however, decreased for a while.

As of the late evening of November 24, computer scientists continued to work on the problem, but one of them assured the publication that the situation is under control. It is reported that the IT service does not exclude a new attack on its servers in the near future and is preparing for it.

It is noted that hackers tried not only to leave officials without the Internet, but also to gain access to the EC server. However, the representative of the European Commission assured that computers were not hacked.

Who exactly made an attack, "remains unknown or not revealed," the publication notes. It is reported that the details of the IT service of the EC reported in the report of the computer security service of the European Union.
