The Investigative Committee named the reason for the detention of the FSO general

The Investigative Committee of Russia said that FSO General Gennady Lopyrev is accused of taking bribes from entrepreneurs for patronage in the execution of contracts for repair and construction work.

Earlier, the fact that Lopyrev allegedly received bribes was reported with reference to sources, but it was not known who gave them.

As stated in the UK, the case was opened under the article “Taking bribes on an especially large scale” (part 6 of article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

  • Gennady Lopyrev is the head of the Security Service of the FSO in the Caucasus. He was arrested on November 25th. The investigation intends to petition for the arrest of the security official. The defense will try to get house arrest.
  • According to Interfax, during a search of Gennady Lopyrev, one billion rubles were found.
