President Vladimir Putin signed decrees on the dismissal of four government officials who violated his ban on running for the Russian Academy of Sciences. Documents are published on the official website of the Kremlin.

The head of the Investigative Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Deputy Minister Alexander Savenkov, head of the Main Military Medical Department of the Ministry of Defense Alexander Fisun, head of the registration and archival funds of the FSB Vasily Khristoforov, as well as the head of the Main Medical Department of the Presidential Administration, Konstantin Kotenko, were dismissed from office.

It is reported that Khristoforov was dismissed "upon reaching the age of age in military service", Savenkov, Fisun and Kotenko - "at his own free will."

All these officials in the last election became corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that the decision to dismiss four government officials is connected with their election to the Academy of Sciences.

Later, on Monday, TASS said that Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev fired the deputy head of the Ministry of Education and Science of Alexei Lopatin, previously elected academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The official has resigned of his own free will. Prime Minister’s spokeswoman Natalya Timakova said that Lopatin will continue to engage in science and "he wished him success in further work."

On November 23, at a meeting of the Presidential Council for Science and Education, Putin expressed dissatisfaction with officials who, contrary to his ban, received the title of Academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences. According to the head of state, it is impossible to effectively combine work in state authorities with serious scientific research.

"I will have to give them the opportunity to engage in science. Because, apparently, their scientific activity is more important than the performance of some routine administrative duties in the authorities and management," Putin said .

The president noted that at the end of last year he turned to his colleagues and the president of the Academy of Sciences with a request. "The request was that in previous times we had many representatives of various levels of power took part in the elections to the Academy of Sciences, including the highest officials. I asked my colleagues to refrain from participating in the elections of new members to the Academy of Sciences due to the fact that people who replace positions in state power, especially at the upper steps, are engaged in service or should be at least busy at least. in the service in a serious way, otherwise they are not able to fulfill their official duties, and can only in their free time, who, who is in good faith in administrative positions, can actually have no remaining for people, ”Putin said.

On the same day, Russian President Vladimir Fortov said that several civil servants were elected to the Academy of Sciences. “Five -seven people, like this. Depends on how to count,” said Fortov. On November 24, the head of the Russian Academy of Sciences noted that none of the state officials with the status of an academician or a corresponding member, applied for refusing him. At the same time, Fortov noted that officials will not be able to abandon academic titles, since the charter of the Russian Academy of Sciences provides for life membership.
