
110 years ago, on November 28, 1906, a famous domestic philologist, researcher of ancient Russian literature, academician Dmitry Sergeyevich Likhachev was born.
In 1928, he was arrested for participating in the student circle "Space Academy of Sciences" and criticism of new Russian spelling; He served the term in the Solovetsky camp and on the construction of the Belomorsky Canal.
Likhachev actively participated in the preservation and restoration of various cultural objects of St. Petersburg and its suburbs, was a People’s Deputy of the USSR and a member of the Human Rights Commission under the administration of St. Petersburg.
