Rosbalt journalist was detained at Yanukovych’s press conference

Rosbalt agency correspondent Dmitry Remizov was detained while trying to get to a press conference of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych in Rostov-on-Don.

At first, they refused to let Remizov into the building of the Rostov Regional Court on the pretext that his name was not on the list of accredited journalists, although he had an electronic request for accreditation with him.

When Remizov then came to the courthouse for Yanukovych’s press conference, for which he also received accreditation, he was detained for identification and taken to the police department.

After 2.5 hours, the journalist was released, “with an apology,” Rosbalt writes .

• In 2013, Rosbalt correspondent Dmitry Remizov became involved in a case of desecration of the flag of the Russian Federation . The case was opened on the basis of a video posted on the Internet of the burning of the Russian flag; the investigation claimed that the video depicted Remizov. He himself denied involvement in the incident. The case was closed due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.
• In August 2016, Remizov was summoned to the Center for Countering Extremism of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (Center “E”) of Rostov-on-Don for interrogation in the case of preparing a terrorist attack, where they were asked about his acquaintance with opposition activists. During the interrogation, according to the journalist, the police officerhit him on the head three times .
