In the fight against AIDS, the state cannot do without your help

Traditionally, on the eve of International AIDS Day, the topic of HIV infection is discussed in society. However, in 2016, this problem is constantly in the spotlight, and for the first time they approached its solution comprehensively.

The Ministry of Health was developed and approved in the Government of the Russian Federation "State strategy to counteract the spread of HIV infection until 2020 and a further prospect."

This is a fundamental document that allows you to approach the fight against HIV systematic.

Its most important areas were the informing of the population and increase coverage by testing on HIV of different population groups. This year, the Ministry of Health of Russia, as part of a large -scale information campaign, organized an All -Russian action to test HIV in the capitals of 10 most problematic regions. During the action, more than 23 thousand people learned their HIV-Status.

What today you need to know about AIDS in Russia: the number of HIV-infected people annually increases by 10%. To the prevailing ways of infection through blood (57.3%), the sexual, heterosexual path of infection transmission (40.3%) was also added. This confirms that HIV can affect each, both in risk groups and socially prosperous sections of the population.

Other strategy provisions are aimed at expanding HIV-infected support. In Russia, free drugs today receive about 37% of patients with patient accounting, which is already 5 times more than in previous years. The planned coverage of 60% of HIV-positive Russians will reduce the growth rate of the disease by almost halves, prevent up to 40 thousand new cases of infection annually.

Russian healthcare managed to take control of the transfer of HIV from the mother to the child. As a result-98% of children in HIV-infected mothers are born healthy.

Of course, strengthening measures to counteract the spread of HIV are official steps. But it is naive to believe that only they radically affect a situation that did not pay due attention to several decades. Everyone can contribute to the solution of the most important social problem - an official, an activist, a businessman, a citizen himself.
