The Russian Prosecutor General's Office has sent a criminal case to court on the theft of 1.2 billion rubles during the construction of the Vostochny Cosmodrome, reported the official representative of the supervisory agency, Alexander Kurennoy.

According to him, Deputy Prosecutor General Viktor Grin approved the indictment in the case against Anatoly Ryazanov, one of the defendants accused of attempted fraud on an especially large scale.

According to the investigation, from August 2012 to October 2013, the general director of Stroykonstruktsiya S LLC, Ryazanov, joined an organized group together with the head of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise Spetsstroyservis under Spetsstroy Rossii, Andrey Yartsev, the general director of Stroykonstruktsiya CJSC, Nikolay Shkadin, his deputy, Igor Novikov, and Vladimir Deniskin.

“During the implementation of contracts with OOO Stroykonstruktsiya S for the supply of metal structures for the construction of the Vostochny Cosmodrome facilities, theft of funds entrusted to Yartsev in the amount of over 1.18 billion rubles was committed,” Kurennoy said.

To do this, he noted, “the accomplices artificially inflated the prices of the products, created chains of intermediary firms and ensured that a commercial organization under their control, which had no production capacity and was unable to independently fulfill the terms of the contract, won the tender.”
