CDC will show an "animated life"

On December 1, the Documentary Cinema Center (CDC), together with the Fund for Assistance to Solving Autism's Problems in Russia, “Exit” releases the film by Roger Ross Williams “Animated Life”.

On this day, a special show of the film will be held at the Central House of Councils, it will be presented by the president of the Foundation Foundation, director and screenwriter Avdotya Smirnov.

The picture of the Oscar laureate Roger Ross Williams “Animated Life” ( Life, Animated ) is based on the book, written by the father of the protagonist - writer and journalist Ron Saskind, the holder of the Pulitzer Prize.

Until three years, his son Owen developed completely normal. But once, suddenly and inexplicably, he completely stopped talking: he could not express his thoughts, feelings and desires, build relationships with others. Then he was diagnosed with autism.

Over the years, Owen and his family learned to find a common language. To do this, they plunged into the world of Disney cartoons, familiar to everyone since childhood. Owen loved the Mermaid and King Leo very much, reviewed them again and again. Through them, he learned to recognize complex nuances of relationships and understand the universal mechanisms of communication. Thanks to them, he was able to find new ties with the outside world.

In 2016, “Animated Life” received a prize for the best directing of the documentary program of the 32nd Festival of Independent Cinema Sundance .

The film "Animated Life" will also be shown as part of the weekend of the festival of modern documentary cinema "Center", dedicated to urban culture and the life of modern society.

The weekend will be held in the Central House of Criminal Code on December 3 and 4. His program includes films of competitive programs of international festivals Sundance , Tribeca , Hot Docs and the Berlin Film Festival, first presented in Russia at the Center festival in September 2016.
