And 57% (15 - “definitely yes”, 42 - “rather yes”) citizens leaned to the idea that they have “reasons to fear the Western countries included in the NATO block”.

They fear and, in general, seem to hate, but vote for peace and friendship. Almost without exception (again 86%!) They approve of Putin's activities, but advise him to adjust the course. We also add that they changed their point of view of the same 20%, which in the summer of 2015 considered it necessary to “reduce ties, relations, removal from Western countries”. Then there were 37%of them, now only 17%remained. It turns out that every fifth hawk was retrained into a dove.

How to explain this?

Of course, people get tired of the war, from the inspired imperial swagger, inspired by fears, inspired by anger, and their time slowly treats, serving as if vaccinating from rabies. It is also clear that the unambiguous question of Putin’s support, also asked by a foreign agent , must be answered correctly, but the political course can be clarified. This is unlucky. By the way, from another survey conducted last summer, we learned that only half of the Russians are ready, if tomorrow the war, to send "sons, brothers, husbands or other close relatives to the front and death." The other half is not ready, but among them there are probably many fans of the national leader. They do not want to feed his relatives for him.

In addition, we are unlikely to be mistaken if we assume that among warlike patriots there are many who lied to sociologists. They are also not ready and also with all their hearts would welcome the discharge, restart and other peaceful coexistence of the two systems. In short, the country seems to be changing.

Well, the West itself - why is he an enemy? Hundreds of thousands of our compatriots have already been there and found quite normal people. Living better than in Russia, but this is a sin excusable. It is not the fact that they must be killed and dedicated to a fight with them.

However, there are other, not so encouraging explanations.

Firstly, the answers are visible in the answers, the cautious hypocrisy of the respondents, who are still convinced that Russia is right in conflict with the West, and agree to put up only on the conditions that Putin dictates. Knowing exactly at the same time that he will not give Crimea, he will not leave Donbass, he will not fly away from Syria, and it is possible that he will climb somewhere else. Russia has no boundaries, as it turned out the other day, and all his conquering campaigns were reflected in this subtle geopolitical joke. “We are standing on the matter of the world, we are preparing for the war” - the numbers published by the Levada Center can be interpreted, almost without risking to make a mistake. The people who are accustomed to victories are afraid of a big war, but Vladimir Vladimirovich believes and hopes that he will continue to replay everyone.

Secondly, Donald Trump, who will become an American president in January in January. People were pursued by how good he is in comparison with Obama and Hillary, and the Russians will be very surprised if a friend Donald, having come to power, will not yield to us Crimea, will not begin to bomb the terrorists in Syria with Putin and will not marry NATO. I think that many of the respondents, hoping for the world, see this picture, and so they imagine the “further expansion of ties” with the West. The West should capitulate and knead with us - wasn’t that all our television shows and guests invited to the studio for many months? They only believed that Trump would not allow to win, but he was given it, and in anticipation of his arrival in the White House, the respondents are looking forward to revenge.

Their peace -loving dreams will come true or revenge will break off - no one knows about that, including the triumph. However, it is unlikely that Trump will act exactly according to the scenario that was laid in the heads of Russian viewers by the most simple -minded of the propagandists. The forecasts are diverse, and among them they prevail very gloomy, which come down to the fact that the future has never seemed so unpredictable. Until now, one politician posed a real threat to the world on the planet. Now there are two of them, and each is so cool and passionate about the great ideas that the current era of the Cold War is perceived in advance as a golden age in advance.

However, what was said does not mean that the Russians surveyed have to experience a sense of cruel disappointment. The agitprop will not allow them to be disappointed for a long time and will not leave them in trouble. In general, as the practice of the last Putin years shows, respondents are elastic people, and with the help of a zombie, different figures can be sculpted from it. In July last year, only half of them wanted to make peace with the West. Today is almost three quarters. And tomorrow, if that, the vast majority of repents in their errors, again barricaded in the besieged fortress.

There is nowhere to go. Since the catastrophe is laid down in the Kremlin’s policy that people support, and sociology is fixed and this hopelessly fixes quite definitely.
