The Moscow City Court left Shakro Molodoy under arrest

The Moscow City Court recognized as legal the extension of the arrest of thief in law Zakhary Kalashov, nicknamed Shakro Molodoy, and the other four defendants in the criminal case, a Mediazona correspondent reports.

The decision of the Moscow City Court concerns former police officer Evgeniy Surzhikov, contracting company employees Gerson Gamidov and Nikolai Nikolaev, accused of extortion, and Savely Ganovichev, accused of hooliganism.

The defense of the accused asked to change their measure of restraint to one not related to imprisonment. According to lawyer Alexander Gofshtein, the investigation violated the requirement to individualize data and brought everyone “with the same brush” on a particularly serious charge.

“The prosecutor claims that we are not working. I served in the Ministry of Internal Affairs for 26 years and retired in November, nothing was said about this. Two weeks later I found myself at the restaurant, one might say, with the goal of getting a job. I left my information to the police, I was interviewed a month and a half later on 18 pages and released, I didn’t hide anywhere, I didn’t run away,” Surzhikov said in court.

The representative of the prosecutor's office replied that many activities are being carried out to collect data about the persons involved in the case and asked not to change the measure of restraint for them.

The court recognized as legal the decision of the Tverskoy District Court of Moscow, which on November 10 extended the arrest of Shakro Molodoy until December 15.

Kalashov is charged under Article 163 of the Criminal Code (extortion). According to investigators, he extorted 8 million rubles from the owner of the Elements cafe, Zhanna Kim. The case was opened after a shootout near the establishment in which two people were killed.

In October, Kommersant wrote that Shakro Molodoy is suspected under Part 4 of Article 210 of the Criminal Code (organization of a criminal community by a person occupying a high position in the criminal hierarchy). A later, November article mentions that Kalashov is suspected under Article 210 of the Criminal Code, but does not specify part 4, which states that he is considered the leader of the criminal community in Russia. Both materials are signed by the same author.

In addition, according to unofficial data, a case of a bribe of $5 million is being investigated, the former head of the Investigative Committee’s own security department Mikhail Maksimenko, his deputy Alexander Lamonov and the first deputy head of the Investigative Committee’s department for Moscow Denis Nikandrov are suspected of receiving it.
