The Moscow Meshchansky Court returned to the prosecutor's office the case of the former head of Rosgranitsa, Dmitry Bezdelov, accused of fraud and organizing a criminal community in the case of the theft of almost 500 million rubles. this . reports Interfax
Thus, Judge Elena Makismova of the Meshchansky Court granted the defense’s request. As a RAPSI correspondent reports , also during a closed preliminary hearing in the case, the court granted the prosecutor’s request and extended Bezdelov’s arrest until May 5, 2017.
According to investigators, in 2009, Bezdelov created a criminal community, plotting to steal budget funds allocated for the improvement of border checkpoints. His accomplices were the head of the directorate for the construction and operation of Rosgranitsa facilities Oleg Senkevich, the head of the department for the development of state border facilities and the administration of checkpoints of the Rosgranitsa Danila Vavilov, the deputy head of the Rosgranitsa Boris Khaitovich, as well as several senior employees of Rosgranstroi and general directors of controlled companies.
The investigation believes that from September 2009 to May 2013, members of the criminal community stole and legalized budget funds, the total amount of which exceeds 490 million rubles. The case of seven accomplices of the former head of Rosgranitsa is now in court, two more have already been sentenced to long terms. Senkevich is on the federal wanted list.
The former head of Rosgranitsa was put on the federal wanted list in December 2013, and six months later - on the international wanted list. In October 2014, Bezdelov was detained in Italy, and in March 2016, Italy granted the request of the Prosecutor General's Office for his extradition. In early April, Bezdelov was extradited to Russia.
