Lyubov Sobol: the police lost materials about the attack on sociologist Mokhov

The police reported that they do not have materials on the attack on sociologist Sergei Mokhov in Moscow; his wife, an employee of the Anti-Corruption Foundation, Lyubov Sobol, wrote about this on Facebook. She concluded that the police had lost the documents.

“This morning my husband arrived at the district police station and they clearly and unequivocally told him: we don’t have the inspection materials, everything has been transferred to the Simonov interdistrict prosecutor’s office in Moscow. After that, the husband went there with lawyer [Sergei] Badamshin. Imagine the surprise when the prosecutor on duty at the reception told them that they also did not have the verification materials. Badamshin, a meticulous lawyer, didn’t believe it and went to the office, where the prosecutor’s words were confirmed: the investigation materials into the attack on Mokhov were not received by the Simonovsky prosecutor’s office,” Sobol wrote.

She noticed that Mokhov, who was attacked on the evening of November 25, was never given a detailed explanation about what happened.

“I’m generally silent about breaking through criminals through cellular billing. This seems to be space for our cops. In general, not the slightest change since yesterday. Everyone disavows the case and stupidly doesn’t want to take responsibility for it,” added the FBK lawyer.

Sobol filed a complaint with the prosecutor's office about the inaction of the police and wrote a statement to the Investigative Committee to initiate a criminal case.

On November 30, Mokhov’s wife wrote that the district police officer tasked with investigating the attack called it “too complicated.” The head of the department of local police commissioners of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Donskoy District, Artem Khomich, in a conversation with Mediazona, refused to comment on the actions of the local police officer.

Sergey Mokhov is known as the publisher of the magazine “Archaeology of Russian Death” and a participant in the “Last 30” project, a social anthropologist and researcher of the funeral industry. The day before the attack, the Open Russia project published material co-authored by Mokhov. The FBK demanded that the structure of St. Petersburg businessman Yevgeny Prigozhin be checked for involvement in the attack.
