Roskosmos confirmed the loss of the Progress MS-04 cargo spacecraft. This was reported on the corporation's website.
The loss of the ship occurred at an altitude of 190 km above a deserted mountainous area in Tuva. According to experts, most of the fragments burned in the dense layers of the atmosphere.
“The State Commission is analyzing the current emergency situation. The loss of a cargo ship will not affect the normal functioning of the ISS systems and the life of the station crew,” the state corporation said in a statement.
The official cause of the accident in Roskosmos has not yet been announced. A source of the TASS agency in the rocket and space industry reported that the cause of the accident of the third stage of the launch vehicle could be a clogged fuel supply pipeline to the engine.
Earlier it was reported that after the launch of the Progress MS-04 transport cargo ship from the Baikonur Cosmodrome, the ship had problems transmitting telemetry information.
The Progress MS-04 cargo ship delivered 2.5 tons of cargo, in particular, fuel for ISS refueling, water, scientific equipment and supplies, food containers, clothes, medicines and personal hygiene products for the crew members.
The docking of the spacecraft with the ISS was scheduled for December 3rd.
