
The wreckage of the freight spacecraft “Progress MS-04”, which entered into an unreasonable orbit, allegedly fell on the territory of Tuva, told RIA Novosti a source in the power structures of the region. According to the agency, there are a search for the wreckage of the ship.
Earlier it became known that the ship, which started from Baikonur, stopped transmitting telemetry data from the 383rd second of the flight, previously reported the successful separation of three steps of the launch vehicle and the release of “progress” into intermediate orbit.
The RNS source previously allowed the fall of “progress”, according to him, if the third step worked emergency, the ship received an insufficient impulse to enter near -Earth orbit.
“The time and place of his fall will depend on how the engines of the 3rd stage have worked out,” said the interlocutor of the publication.
Also, the source of TASS spoke about the loss of the ship due to the release of the wrong orbit. The source of Interfax suggested that the ship could fall in the Altai area.
According to the Interfax source, the cause of the accident could be a malfunction of the engine produced in Voronezh, or the control system that is produced at the Kharkov enterprise.
Progress was supposed to deliver more than 2 tons of cargo to the ISS, including fruits for the New Year.
According to Interfax, sufficient reserves of products and essential items are formed for the ISS so that the crew works before the reserve cargo ship arrives.
The last accident of Progress occurred in 2015, the ship was launched in April from Baikonur and stopped giving signals. In early May, the ship burned over the Pacific Ocean.
On November 28, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, who oversees the space industry, announced that Russia "escaped from this verse of defeats, offensive accidents and disasters."
