In Krasnodar, oncologists removed a 25-kilogram tumor from a woman

Surgeons at Clinical Oncology Dispensary No. 1 successfully operated on a woman who had previously been diagnosed with a 25-kilogram tumor. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Health of the Krasnodar Territory.

A 41-year-old woman came to the oncology clinic with complaints of abdominal pain and an increase in its size. During the examination, the patient was found to have a huge tumor that occupied the entire abdominal cavity, compressing the ureter, inferior vena cava, liver, stomach and diaphragm.

The operation to remove the tumor lasted about three hours. Doctors note that the woman was very lucky because the tumor did not grow into neighboring organs, although it was connected to the vessels that feed them. The operation went without complications. The patient feels well.

“Unfortunately, this is not an isolated example of the “growing” of such large tumors. This spring, a tumor measuring 50 by 40 centimeters was removed from a 70-year-old patient. The malignant neoplasm completely occupied the abdominal cavity, so our specialists had to remove part of the stomach, pancreas and spleen,” said Roman Murashko, chief physician of the oncology clinic.

In August, at the Medical and Surgical Center of the Russian Ministry of Health, surgeons removed a large tumor of the right ovary from a 56-year-old Muscovite. The malignant neoplasm weighed 21 kilograms. Surgeon at the Medical and Surgical Center Ilya Karev said that specialists encounter such large tumors every month. According to him, this indicates that patients neglect their health and are not examined.
