The elected US President Donald Trump intends to nominate the head of the Pentagon of the General of the Marine Corps in James Mattis, nicknamed "Frantic Dog". According to the BBC, Trump announced this, speaking to his supporters in Cincinnati.

Mattis left the post of head of the Central Command of the United States in 2013. According to American legislation, the US Minister of Defense before his appointment should not occupy any posts in the country's army for seven years.
