70 years ago, on December 2, 1946, an agreement was signed in New York to unite the American and British occupation zones in Germany. The new formation became known as Bizonia. This was an important step towards the political division of Germany. It was caused by the fact that in 1946 the USSR stopped deliveries of agricultural products from its zone to the western zones of occupation. In response, deliveries of industrial equipment to the Soviet Union were cut off at the expense of German reparations from the western occupation zones. In 1949, Bizonia, when the French zone of occupation joined it, turned into Trizonia, and soon the Federal Republic of Germany was created.
