The scientist was delivered to the clinic of Jamelli in the Italian capital. This is a medical institution, as journalists note, is considered one of the best hospitals in Rome. The interlocutor of the agency in the Vatican noted that Hawking plans to leave Rome on Saturday, December 3, have not changed.

Hawking came to Italy to participate in a symposium at the Papal Academy of Sciences. On Monday, November 28, the scientist met with Pope Francis.

Earlier, the British edition of The Guardian published a Hawking column , in which the scientist expressed the opinion that the "most dangerous time for our planet" came. In the text, he, in particular, pointed out the growing gap between the elites, the middle and working classes.

According to an outstanding scientist, the robotization of production, the lack of the need to obtain high income in a large number of human resources lead to a misunderstanding between different groups of society.

"The Internet and the platforms, which make the acceleration of economic inequality possible, allow very small groups of people to extract huge profits when hiring a very small number of people. This is inevitable, this is progress, but it is also socially destructive," Hawking wrote.

Since the 1960s, 74-year-old Hawking has been suffering from a disease of motor neurons and is chained to a wheelchair. In 1985, he fell ill with a severe form of pneumonia, and the doctors had to make a tracheotomy, because of which he lost his speech. Despite this, Hawking leads a very active lifestyle. In 2007, he flew in zero gravity on a special plane.

The famous scientist has three children. At Cambridge University, Stephen Hawking is in the position of Lukasov professor of mathematics, who was once occupied by Isaac Newton.
