The Russian government has reduced the cost of living by 67 rubles

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree to reduce the cost of living, the official legal information portal reports .

According to the resolution document, the cost of living in Russia for the third quarter of this year is set at 9,889 rubles - 67 rubles less than in the second quarter. For the working population, the cost of living was 10,678 rubles, for pensioners - 8,136 rubles, and for children - 9,668 rubles.

In addition, the resolution states that the minimum amount that Russians need for life support decreased by almost 1% compared to the previous quarter of this year.

The cost of living includes the cost of food necessary for the normal functioning of the body, as well as the cost of a set of certain food products and services. The subsistence minimum is used to assess the standard of living of the population; the minimum wage cannot be lower than this indicator.

The value of the minimum amount for life support in the country as a whole is used to calculate the starting amount of wages, the allowable amount of pensions, scholarships and other social benefits established at the federal level.

According to current legislation, each constituent entity of the Russian Federation sets its own subsistence level. This amount is used to form local budgets, as well as to calculate all types of social payments at the regional level.

Previously, the government revised the cost of living downward according to data from the last quarter of 2015.

On November 18, 2016, the official website of Rosstat published a study according to which the real disposable income of Russians decreased by 5.9% compared to last year. The report states that between September and October 2016, the decline in Russians’ incomes accelerated fourfold.
